Lumen Eyecare Store was founded by Dr. Boris Wong, a leading optometrist based in the Greater Toronto Area. Raised near the border of Markham and Scarborough, Dr. Wong has always been driven by a simple goal: to give back to the community that shaped him. In 2021, he opened his first private practice, Lumen Eyecare Scarborough, to bring advanced eyecare closer to patients in Scarborough and surrounding neighbourhoods. Two years later, he expanded with Lumen Eyecare Markham to better serve patients across the Markham–Richmond Hill–Newmarket corridor.

Dr. Wong completed his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences and his Doctor of Optometry at the University of Waterloo. Driven by a passion for dry eye, he went on to complete an ACOE-accredited residency in corneal disease and specialty contact lenses. Through his clinical work, he recognized that patients often struggle to find the specific products required to manage dry eye disease effectively. Lumen Eyecare Store was born out of his desire to push the standard of care by making these specialized products accessible to not only his patients, but to everyone.
